Keith, Tammi and the Kids,
Enjoying their Garden and Being Together

My name is Tami Porter. I have a Master's degree in education and my husband Keith's background is in water treatment. One day, Keith and I sat down and looked at our budget and figured out that after deducting the expenses related to my teaching position, such as daycare, I was only bringing home about $700.00 a month. Keith and I were "getting by" financially but we were starting to see behavioral changes in my son that we were not happy with. Also, he would cry all the way to daycare and then I would cry all the way to work. It was a terrible situation! I felt that I was failing as a mother, I was failing as a wife and that I was failing my students because my heart was not there. Because of this, Keith and I started looking for a home-based business. We looked into stuffing envelopes, doing crafts and some other things, but nothing worked out.

Then, an event happened with my son that caused my life to change forever. I was on my way to daycare with my son, knowing that he could possibly be bleeding internally. It was too late to call in a substitute and the school said that I must come in. During second period, I received a call from his day care provider saying "Tami, your son has gone through three diapers and is losing a lot of blood." At that point, I called the hospital and they said to bring him in immediately! I called the principal and told him what was happening with my son and that I needed to leave, but he told me that I had to stay because they didn't have anyone to take over my classroom! It was at that point that I decided that I will never have another person decide my life or determine my situation again! My son had E-coli which was one of the worst events in my life, although out of it grew my determination to control my own future.

In October of 1996, we discovered the NHBN home business opportunity. Within 2 months of working part time around my teaching position and my son, I replaced my salary. In fact, the first month, we profited close to $1,700.00. By January 1997, I quit my teaching position and have been working part time around my son. Keith saw the freedom that I had and the income I was earning and so we stepped up our efforts to bring him home. In just under 2 years, we were able to not only replace my income but his also! Now that Keith and I are both working from home, we've had another baby and have the time to spend with both of our children. What is really exciting, is that we never had to put our second child into daycare. It's been absolutely incredible! We now control our own future and have the freedom we have wanted for so long! We love what we are doing and we are changing people's lives.

It is really a dream come true!
