"I came to this country from China to pursue a higher education" says Ping Li, who came here with her husband a decade ago. "We borrowed money for our plane tickets, and arrived here not speaking a word of English and had no friends or family here. I studied mathematics, received an advanced degree, and assumed that our lives would be happy.
I got a job as an actuary, calculating insurance and annuity premiums. The job paid well, but it left me bored and dissatisfied, with no time to spend with my husband or new baby.
